The Miracle Chalk Snap Line Tool!!!
Friday August 22, 2008
If any tool was a candidate for "Miracle Tool!!" status, it would have to be the chalk snap line. Yes, I know - it's low-tech. The poor chalk snap line is low-tech, and unloved. Nobody likes things comprised merely of string and chalk anymore. What it is: string, chalk, a hook at one end. Period. No computer chips, no LCD screens, no embedded GPS.
So, imagine you've got some gigantic thing that you need to cut. The way to make a line is not with a thirty foot-long ruler, but with the chalk snap line. Hook the string at one end, unreel it to the other end, secure it, and then snap that sucker right in the middle. Voila - a nearly perfect blue line telling you where to cut. And no rulers involved.
