Sometimes it's a hard call as to whether you need to empty your bank account to
replace your windows...or whether you can get by with repairing them. Usually, it's not one thing, but a number of factors that makes the decision for you. Rotting, cracked
muntins are one of the bigger factors that often tip the balance, because they contribute so much toward the window's structural integrity. But if it's a
cracked or broken pane or two, that's a surprisingly easy fix. I have even found fixing panes of glass to be relaxing (O.K., that sounds strange, I know), but make sure you have a good pair of leather gloves to protect your hands from sharp glass.
