Props to the Efficient Windows Collaborative

Wednesday August 27, 2008
Finding a clear, honest voice in the window industry can be like trying to find a dry place to stand in a manure pond. Windows can be a sleazy industry, filled with hucksters and charlatans--so it's refreshing to find something like the Efficient Windows Collaborative. I first ran into the EWC a few years ago when researching replacement windows for a national magazine, and spoke to its contact person, Nils Petermann. EWC's focus is on energy savings to be gained with more efficient windows; they will not tell you whether Pella is better than Andersen. But they make a strong case for low e coatings, and in their well-written Benefits section, they almost make a believer out of me. EWC is worth a few minutes of your time: not the usual "window industry" blather there.
