I guess I had never considered installing a light dimmer in a bathroom until I got older and had more to hide. Somewhere along the way, I lost my superhero-like physique and never found it again.
From the safety perspective, dim lighting anywhere is never such a brilliant idea (pun intended). But let's just say that we are all adults and know how to perform our functions in a dimly lit room by now--and still hit the target. So, then: dimmers, why? Well, they obviate the need to use candles while you are having your Calgon moment in the tub. But it doesn't just stop with lighting. There are many other things you can do to your bathroom in conjunction with remodeling that are also kind of cool:
- Recess the soap dishes for a more "traditional" look.
- Beadboard to cover the lower 48" of the wall. It looks great, and it helps protect the walls from splashes.
- Make your small bathroom feel larger by keeping the color scheme somewhere between white and cream.
