How to Install Granite Counters by Yourself

Friday October 10, 2008
Modular Countertops - Pedra It's no easy task to install granite countertops by yourself. But if you're bound and determined to do it alone, you need to be prepared.

One route is to pick up cartons of tile granite at your local tile store. This granite is a jack-of-all-trades which some homeowners decide to install on countertops. Then there is the modular granite route. Modular granite sort of gives DIY renovators a "boost" because it's specifically designed for countertops. So, it's already got the bullnoses and backsplashes built in, and the dimensions are countertop-friendly. With modular, you won't get a perfect finish that will satisfy the most exacting kitchen designers out there (modular granite still has seams), but it's a lot better than the raw granite tile route.

I had a contractor do this for me…
The seams look like grout joints.
$1,950 wasted. We are going to tear them out.
My advice, go to someone in the business!
