Unbeknownst to me, white kitchen cabinets are almost an entire genre of kitchen cabinetry. I learned this recently when I was doing some research about kitchen cabinet refacing, and found that homeowners who are remodeling the kitchen and want white kitchen cabinets rarely can be convinced of anything else. I mean—some people really, really want white kitchen cabinets, and nothing else!
I suppose a lot of it has to do with the idea of sterility and hygiene. While I doubt the white kitchen cabinets are any more hygienic than dark wood, it sure is easier to see if there is dirt or other types of kitchen yuck on them. If anything, I would be more anxious to have white or light colored kitchen countertops then cabinetry--but that's just me.
