Yep, it's that time of year. It's time to start thinking about exterior house paint colors.
Exterior house-painting season (depending on where you live) can run from March to October. That eight-month painting run means big work ahead for you. Either:
- Painting the house yourself. When you sit down to think about everything involved with painting a house's exterior, it can be daunting. Surface prep, scraping, cleaning, masking, doing the trim, spraying, rolling, hand-brushing, etc. For one person, this can easily stretch the entire summer.
- Hiring a painting contractor. More expensive than you might think. This might run you a couple grand for paint and another ten to twenty thousand for labor. Just something to consider.
At the very least, you're looking at two paint colors for your house exterior: field and trim. A Cape Cod-style exterior paint color design exemplifies this duo-tone simplicity.
Or, for a Victorian-style paint design, we're talking four paint colors, minimum.
