Ridgid 10" Compound Saw: Not Exactly Happy

I always try to be fair when reviewing products.  If the thing generally does what it claims, I'm thumbs-up.

Problems

But this Ridgid 10" Compound Miter Saw has not made me happy:

  1. Beastly set-up and assembly.
  2. Optional laser "disc" (in lieu of the outer blade washer) that appears to throw off the angle of the blade.
  3. Lock that is tricky to operate.
  4. Chintzy work clamp.
  5. "Soft touch" controls that feel dangerously easy to accidentally turn on.

And that's only four hours into owning the saw.

Update:  2 Days Later

While none of the previous problems have cleared up, I have gone on to successfully cut wood with this Ridgid compound miter saw.  I still have all eleven fingers, so I guess there is something to be said for that.
