I always try to be fair when reviewing products. If the thing generally does what it claims, I'm thumbs-up.
Problems
But this Ridgid 10" Compound Miter Saw has not made me happy:
- Beastly set-up and assembly.
- Optional laser "disc" (in lieu of the outer blade washer) that appears to throw off the angle of the blade.
- Lock that is tricky to operate.
- Chintzy work clamp.
- "Soft touch" controls that feel dangerously easy to accidentally turn on.
And that's only four hours into owning the saw.
Update: 2 Days Later
While none of the previous problems have cleared up, I have gone on to successfully cut wood with this Ridgid compound miter saw. I still have all eleven fingers, so I guess there is something to be said for that.
