Install Over the Range Microwave

Or pretty darn close to 1:57.  That's how convincing Zack Heene is when installing an over the range microwave.

Turns out, there isn't much to it.  At long as you already have ducting and power, of course.

  1. Find wall studs.
  2. Lay down the microwave's paper template (your appliance will come with this).
  3. Cut through the indicated spots on the template.
  4. Cut up through the upper cabinet (that's where the ducting and power will go).
  5. Mount wall plate.  This is a metal strip mounted horizontally which screws into studs.
  6. Mount the microwave on the plate.  The hardest part, requiring a second set of hands.
  7. Connect ducting and power.
  8. Install grease filters.

Bam, you're done.  Wasn't that two minutes?  Video:  Install Over the Range Microwave
