A tile setter chided me for placing snap tile cutters in a critical light. I re-read the article, and he was right--so I've revised it!
Snap tile cutters definitely have their place in tile work. Think of a snap tile cutter as a giant glass cutter. Draw the wheel across the tile surface, snap, voila. Now you've got two pieces of tile.

The only thing is that, like anything that is torn, snapped, or ripped, the resulting two pieces don't have a perfect clean line. But that's the nature of snap tile cutters, not your fault. Slip the ragged edge against the wall. The baseboard will cover it.
When you're tiling a floor, almost every cut end will go under a baseboard or threshold.
It's possible to get by with just a snap tile cutter, but it's sure nice to have both a snap cutter and a wet tile saw.
