Some reasons are practical (quicker start-up and cleaning) and others are psychological (satisfies a need for instant-gratification).
With cheaper and better paint sprayers coming onto the consumer-level market, there are fewer and fewer reasons why a homeowner might opt to paint his/her house with a brush.
Even when using a sprayer, no doubt you will find plenty of reasons to pick up the brush for small, difficult areas.
