The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) was founded by the National Association of State Energy Officials and Energy Rated Homes of America in 1995. The intention was twofold: create national markets for home energy rating systems (HERS) and energy efficient mortgages.
RESNET is a non-profit membership corporation, but their building performance standards are officially recognized by the US government and the mortgage industry. These standards provide verification for federal tax incentives, ENERGY STAR home labeling, and the US Department of Energy Building America Program.
Visit RESNET.us to learn more about the HERS Index, how to perform home energy audits, and where to find qualified auditors and contractors.
