Problem: Screwing in Drywall Screws Too Far

Don't worry, the sheet of drywall will hold to the wall without driving in the screw too far. In fact, if you puncture the paper with the screw head, the sheet will be less stable and you've an even bigger hole to fill with drywall compound.

Fix: Drive the screw head exactly to the surface of the paper cover. Then give it just a quarter-turn or half-turn extra to push it a hair below the surface. Also, special drill attachments are available which regulate the depth of the screw.
