Remove Doors Before Carpet Installation

By Lee Wallender, About.com

Don't rush your wall-to-wall carpet installation. Do things right, and sufficiently prepare your house.

One great tip is to remove all of your interior slab doors. Not only will this help with removal of previous carpet (if any), but it will help you when positioning your new carpet. Doors will only get in the way and cause frustration. Worried that the new carpet will get in the way of door movement? Carpet first, doors second. Lay down the carpet and then worry about door movement. It's always possible to trim down the bottom of the door to make it swing better. And don't worry about re-hanging interior slab doors. This is a fairly easy process.
