Broken windows often require an expensive repair call from a glazier--or worse, an even more expensive visit from a replacement window company.

But it's easy and inexpensive to fix a broken window yourself. All it takes are some cheap materials from the hardware store, and about an hour of your time.

First, understand how a window pane is fastened into the frame. Below the visible glazing compound (and often paint on top of the glazing compound) are glazier's points that have been tapped into the frame.
