Like the record player and dial telephone--is tongue and groove hardwood flooring a quaint thing of the past that has no meaning in today's world? Why would any modern homeowner choose authentic tongue and groove hardwood flooring when so many other options are available? Let's first come up with some definitions.

Tongue and Groove Hardwood Flooring, Defined

It's sometimes called tongue ingroove, which is perfectly acceptable, or shortened to simply "T&G." Unlike "lock in place" joints found on today's laminate or engineered wood flooring, tongue and groove flooring does not connect independently of the subfloor.
