MOSS•B•WARE is 99% zinc sulfate monohydrate, a proven moss killer and deterrent. In fact, one way to prevent moss from growing in the first place is to attach zinc strips to the ridge of your roof. Over time, as rain falls, zinc residue coats the roof, prevent moss-growth.

What I Like:

It does work. Also, Moss B Ware can be mixed with water at the rate of 3 pounds of product to 5-10 gallons of water, killing moss over 600 square feet, though this negates the visual-tracking properties of granular-based moss killers.

What I Don't Like:

While dusting my roof with Moss B Ware, the lid came off. Literally half of the product spilled in one place, and it was difficult to sweep up as it has a very cake-y consistency.

Was the lid problem an aberration, a one-time-only thing? No. Foolishly, using the next can, I forgot to hold the lid (or secure it with duct tape), and it came off again. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice...

The next problem is that it's difficult to spread. It's a fine powder that cakes up inside the container, requiring vigorous shaking. Then, once it comes out, it is difficult to aim because it floats away.
