While it's true that you do need the soaring ceilings and 8' windows to completely pull off this kitchen design idea, it's really not as complicated as it seems. Let's deconstruct this kitchen:
Bar/Island
An ordinary kitchen eating bar, but what gives it that "lofty" appearance? Not just the concrete countertop, but the commercial walk-in freezer door hinges further give this kitchen its industrial look. These are not inexpensive hinges, but they can really pull off that edgy look if that's what you're going for. You'll find them at restaurant supply companies.
Column
One thing that really pushes this kitchen design idea to the top is the column. But is it column or "column"? What you're looking at is galvanized steel. You can either wrap it around an actual load-bearing column or, more applicable to most of us, you can insert a
hollow galvanized steel duct wherever you believe it should go.
Paint Design
This kitchen paint scheme comes from Ralph Lauren Home. The trick of the deep gray neutrals (Soft Earth and Canvas) is to make the red bar and blue door visually "pop out."
- Bar - Dressage Red
- Door - Carson Blue
- Walls - Soft Earth and Canvas
