Q: I have a basic galley kitchen with the stove, sink & dishwasher on one
side with the fridge
along the wall. The sink and stove, etc. is lined up with a partition
dividing the kitchen from
the open space. Talk about cramped! Might I be able to level off the
partition and put in a
nice counter to open up the room and provide some more seating?
While I can't say anything for sure without seeing your house, and I'm not
a structural engineer (plus all the usual caveats), it is nearly certain
that you can do this. If it really is a partition wall, then it has no
structural value and can be removed.
