Aberdeen, Mississippi is an unlikely locale for large-scale renovation. The town even advertises that retirement is one of its industries.

But Billy B, as he is professionally known, has bought and renovated sixteen houses there since 1990.

Working with a regular crew, Billy turns these mostly 100 year-old or older houses into sparkling jewels. He likes to keep things local, buying new energy-efficient windows from Aberdeen area suppliers.

Always present in every renovator's mind: how far do I go to keep things historically accurate? The answer is always being revised, according to the situation. Billy hates vinyl siding and always removes it from his houses. Also more recently he's begun to salvage doors and windows from other houses. But realism rules in this game, and he's no stranger to the local Lowe's when a certain house might need a certain set of french doors.
