Know how hard that is?
Alternatively, you can scamper up and down the ladder with your hand-held paint roller. That's one way to get in shape. Isn't there a better way?
What Are PaintSmart-Trayz?
So Carolyn Keane came up with a cool invention: PaintSmart-Trayz. These unconventionally-shaped paint trays hang quite safely from step- or extension-ladders either horizontally or vertically. A large reservoir in the bottom of the tray holds in the paint for vertical or near-vertical mounting. Not only that, the reservoir holds twice the amount of paint as do normal paint trays. As far as horizontal mounting, hooks hold the tray to the top of the ladder.PaintSmart-Trayz have a number of other nifty features. For vertical mounts, there is an inset for the paint roller to hang from. And you've got two metal hooks for paint brushes.
Carry PaintSmart-Trayz with the attached handle, and drain off unused paint through the bottom drain spout.
Do PaintSmart-Trayz Work?
Positioning is perfect. PaintSmart-Trayz really do fit on any ladder and at just the right angle. Even when positioned "horizontally" at the top of the ladder, the tray rests at a slight angle for proper drainage of the paint toward the bottom. At first, I had misgivings about the handle because it seemed to be in the way when I leaned forward to roll the wall. Later I came to realize that the handle provided a nice buffer--a safety zone, you might say--between myself and the paint in the tray. Without the handle, I would have ended up with paint on my legs.
I did find myself wondering why PaintSmart-Trayz do not come with liners. I have become so accustomed to not having to clean out my paint tray that it felt positively foreign to have to do so. But even lined paint trays eventually become icky and need to be washed or thrown away.
In summary, PaintSmart Trayz are inventive, innovative, and inexpensive--a great addition to your collection of painting tools.
