The Bottom Line

This Wagner paint sprayer is a reasonably adequate entry-level paint sprayer if you only have very basic needs, such as painting a limited number of walls or furniture items. Really, this is more appropriate for such smaller items (furniture or even hobby and crafts) than for full-blown renovation projects.

Pros

  • Inexpensive
  • Electric - No Separate Compressor Needed
  • Paint Sprayer Can Even Pull Paint Straight from Can

Cons

  • Not Good for Non-Vertical Surfaces
  • Slow Coverage
  • Minimal Cleaning Needed After Use

Description

  • Better for hobbies and crafts than wall painting.
  • Difficult to handle and get smooth coverage.
  • The 1 quart cup means frequent refilling of paint.
  • Reminder: paint must be thinned before using with sprayer.
  • Not bad when you're spraying a liquid that is already thinned: stain, for example.
  • A 5-foot suction set is included, so you can draw straight from the can.
  • Direct electrical connection. For more power, use sprayer with a compressor.

Guide Review - Wagner Electric Paint Sprayer

You'll find the Wagner paint sprayer on the shelf of just about any hardware or home improvement store. Popularity isn't necessarily a badge of recommendation, though. This model of Wagner paint sprayer will serve you well if you're painting small to medium items. It's not meant for any kind of house painting. The 5.4 gallon per minute volume means slow coverage.

This sprayer is simply not worth your time or money unless you just need it for a one time use and do not care what it costs. In fairness, the problems with airless sprayers seems to be pretty much universal. They clog easily, are impossible to clean thoroughly, and make a lot of noise with spits and sputters in general. This particular sprayer quit working after the first use, even though we did our best to clean it completely, and now it comes on but nothing will spray. No degree of adjustment will produce any results, and we started with just plain water to see if it would spray, so I know the liquid is not too thick. We changed the spray nozzle as well..still nothing but noise If anyone every finds an electric pain sprayer that is reliable, I'd sure like to know about it...this is the third one we've had over the past few years (had another wagner and a craftsman) and they all barely worked before they died....so good luck
