The Bottom Line

The RYOBI TEK4 4 Volt Cordless Screwdriver is a perfect "kitchen drawer" tool. It's not a workshop item, but a nice secondary cordless tool to have on hand when you need to put up a valance, unscrew a heating vent, or even drill a short hole.

Guide Review - RYOBI TEK4 4 Volt Cordless Screwdriver

It is what it is: it's a 4 volt cordless screwdriver and makes no claims to be anything else.

But if you've owned screwdriver-shaped cordless drivers in the past--and wondered why the manufacturer felt the need to emulate this shape--you'll be pleasantly surprised with this cordless drill shape.

It's easy to hold and provides plenty of grip when you're trying to screw in/out a particularly tough screw. The nearly-flat, nearly-flush trigger is a surprise, too--and makes you wonder why more cordless drill/drivers don't have ergonomically cool type of trigger.

Caveats aside, the RYOBI TEK4 4 Volt Cordless Screwdriver still can drive a screw. I took it beyond its limitations and tried to drive my fastener of choice, the 1 5/8" coarse thread drywall screw, into a stud. The RYOBI 4 Volt did begin to protest at about the 1 inch mark, which I felt was pretty good for something that isn't supposed to do more than turn screws.
