Definition: A drop ceiling, also known as a suspended ceiling, is composed of square or rectangular tiles hanging several inches below your existing ceiling or joists.
How is a Drop Ceiling Installed?
First, a framework of lightweight aluminum is installed in a grid-like matrix. This grid is composed of pieces called main beams and cross tees, and is hung from above by hanger wires.
